Saudi authorities report three deaths in Houthi airport attacks

Three outlets report the fatalities, while the Saudi-led coalition says it destroyed a missile launch platform in response.

BBC News, Al Jazeera and France 24 report that Houthi attacks on Saudi airports killed three people, according to officials. France 24 identifies the airports as Abha and Riyadh's King Khalid and reports 36 wounded. It also carries the Saudi-led coalition's claim to have destroyed the launch platform used against Riyadh.

What holds up

  • ✓All three outlets report the same official death toll of three.
  • ✓BBC and France 24 report that the Houthis claimed responsibility.

What doesn't yet

  • ?The casualty reports rely on Saudi authorities; the summaries contain no independent casualty verification.
  • ?The 36 wounded and destruction of the launch platform appear only in France 24's item, with the latter attributed to a party to the conflict.

Ask before you share

  • →Have hospitals or independent observers verified the casualty figures?
  • →What evidence supports the coalition's account of its retaliatory strike?
